Reflections on Impressions Long Beach 2020

Pushing the boundaries of quality in imaging technology, while helping our customers run more efficiently, productive and profitable businesses has always been at the core of everything we do at EXILE Technologies. It has been our mainstay for decades.

Solving the complex equation of how to engineer inkjet and thermal prepress solutions that offer superior output while reducing significant added costs can be challenging. Yet, we are confident that every product we release does exactly that. Nothing helps to inspire and reinforce our goals more than when we are afforded the opportunity to exhibit at an industry trade show.

We’ve recently returned from the 2020 Impressions Long Beach Expo (formerly ISS Long Beach), and one thing is highly evident – the advances in equipment and technology for the decorated apparel industry is exploding.

Whether your market niche is digital textile printing, or you are more traditional textile, there is an abundance of possibilities. In the midst of an eventful weekend, we were able to duck away from our booth and view the various trending solutions and offerings that were captivating wide-eyed attendees.

A few things that caught our attention included:

  • Progressive print and embroidery software for making designing e-commerce and workflow smarter and effortless
  • Affordable solutions for automatic stencil making and screen cleaning
  • Self-operating sealing systems for folding and packaging garments

And this only scratched the surface of what’s now available in the fight to give print shops a leg up on their competition.

After nearly 20 years of showcasing at this event, we are pleased that the industry is headed in the right direction, and more importantly, that we’re carrying our weight and contributing to the progress.

While we often share with potential clients the imaging capabilities and superior resolution of our acclaimed computer-to-screen (CTS) units, nothing can be substituted for seeing one of them live and in person. Such was the case with our new Spyder III CTS, which was the cornerstone of our booth at the Long Beach Expo.

Its orange color makes a bold statement in the screen room and is only matched by its ability to image stunning artwork at 1200 dpi. While we regularly tout its performance capabilities, those in attendance were treated to demonstrations of how the machine creates value and cost-saving benefits.

One of the primary features of the Spyder III lies in its flexible registration systems. With a simple touch of the system’s pedal, screens lock precisely in place each and every run. Pair this registration system with a printing press and you now have a streamlined press setup operation that gets you printing faster and with greater precision. This translates into reductions in labor costs, improved press setups, and a greater number of jobs turned per day.

As we walked away from Impressions Long Beach, eager to continue discussions with contacts we made, we couldn’t help but return to the lingering thoughts of how present the idea of automation was. Not only in terms of how our products achieve this but how vital its role is for the modern print shop.

Has your shop begun discussions on how to simplify workflow? Is it time to replace outdated systems that aren’t generating the return other machines can deliver? These are all questions that should be top-of-mind for businesses in our industry. We can say that it is an exhilarating time for electronic prepress and we at EXILE Technologies are looking forward to exploring the future with each new prospect.
